Cristian joined FAIRR in June 2023 as an ESG Analyst, bringing a specialized focus to Antibiotics Stewardship and Animal Welfare within the Index team. His efforts are pivotal in refining FAIRR's evaluation methodologies, enhancing the Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index, and empowering investors with crucial insights for sustainable investment decisions.

In his role, Cristian has significantly contributed to FAIRR's mission through co-authoring and leading the integration of Antibiotics Stewardship and Animal Welfare factors into the Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index report, his analytical expertise has sharpened the tool's effectiveness for investors, driving forward FAIRR's agenda for sustainable agriculture.
Recent example of Cristian’s contribution is spearheading the financial analysis of 16 of the largest unlisted companies active in the agriculture and farming sector for potential inclusion in the PPI, his comprehensive evaluation has informed strategic decision-making, underlining the importance of expanding the index coverage both in the listed and unlisted markets.
Cristian has been involved in multiple projects such as advisory white paper for the UK Green Taxonomy, co-authoring an important blog on pesticides use in agriculture and their impact on the environment and society, exemplifying his ability to leverage his expertise in sustainable agriculture for broader organizational impact.
Starting 2024 Cristian will use his expertise to oversee the PPI Food Safety factor.
Experience
Prior to FAIRR, Cristian's career encompassed significant roles as an ESG Analyst at Barings Asset Management within Stewardship, RFP, and Emerging Markets Corporate Debt teams, where he honed and expanded his ESG knowledge, skills and expertise. His educational background includes a First-Class Honours BSc in International Business from Birkbeck, University of London, and a Certificate of Technician in Veterinary Medicine from College of Agriculture, Romania, where he actively excised his profession working directly with farmers across the agriculture spectrum, complementing his practical experience with a strong theoretical foundation in business and veterinary science.
Cristian is currently based in London but has lived in Romania, Cyprus and Italy, and is multilingual, fluent in English, Italian, and Greek, and reflecting his international exposure and ability to engage with a diverse stakeholder base. His commitment to continuous learning and broaden his horizon is evidenced by his pursuit of advanced courses in antimicrobial resistance, animal welfare, sustainable food production systems, alongside professional ESG, capital markets & securities, and commercial banking & credit analyst certifications, aiming to further enhance his expertise and contribution to FAIRR.
