Hosted by the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry , this webinar will discuss how investors can play a role in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Join our ESG Analyst, Philippa Thornton, and our Policy Officer, Stephanie Haszczyn, who will be focusing on AMR as an increasing ESG risk for investors.

The development of antimicrobial resistance is a strong and growing threat to sustainable development. According to a study recently published in the Lancet, AMR caused 1.2 million deaths in 2019. Therefore, the work against increased resistance and for a responsible use of antibiotics needs to be intensified.

Financial companies’ operations are increasingly highlighted as important tools for sustainable development, whilst risks associated with financing unsustainable operations are becoming increasingly apparent. So can the financial market actors contribute to the work against the increasing antimicrobial resistance?

The farm-to-fork antibiotic platform is an initiative of KSLA and Axfoundation to increase the pace of work against antimicrobial resistance with a focus on food systems. This webinar is one of the platform’s knowledge and network seminars and is carried out in collaboration with the Animal Antibiotics Inquiry appointed by the government, which will submit proposals for a stronger and more efficient Swedish work for a responsible and reduced use of antibiotics in animal husbandry globally.

The webinar is followed by a 30-minute “web mingling” with the opportunity for a freer discussion.
